Stress is a condition that is characterized by emotional and mental strains that are always harmful. One is said not to be a good state of mind when they are stressed. There are some negative health effects that are associated with stress. Examples are a headache, fatigue, and irritability and difficulty in sleeping. The worst can happen with some of these health implications of stress. Several ways are used in the management of stress.

Some of these ways are as follows. It is important that a stressed person should avoid caffeine, nicotine, and alcohol. Both nicotine and caffeine are stimulants. These substances affect increasing the stress levels as opposed to the belief of reducing the stress levels. Aalcohol, on the other hand, is a depressant in large quantities but not an effective way of dealing with stress. Getting more sleep is a simple way that can help a stressed person to reduce the stress levels. Lack of sleep has been identified to be a cause of stress. There are also some relaxation techniques that one might try to help them reduce stress. Most of them are tried and tested.

The other way of dealing with stress is through doing exercise. There is an increase in the stress hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline when someone is stressed. Exercise can therefore boost the production of these hormones. It is not a must for someone to do a vigorous physical exercise to achieve this. Brisk walking in fresh air can be very helpful. Working out on a daily basis is even a much better remedy.

The are several mechanisms on how exercise help to relieve stress. One of these mechanisms is through pumping of endorphins into one’s body. These are neurotransmitters that induce a good feeling to the brain The irritations of the day can be forgotten following an exercise session. Another way on how exercise reduces the stress levels is by improving someone’s mood. The symptoms of depression and increasing the confidence of a person are the ways that exercise assist in improving the mood of a person.
